Strategic Business Planning
The creation of who you are, why you do what you do, what it looks like when your mission is accomplished and how you accomplish your mission step by step is the beginning of the entire process. To plan is to create a future, which takes courage, integrity, faith, and power.
An organizational assessment and planning process that focuses on all parts of the organization, including leadership, human and financial resources, systems and procedures for operations, and strategic planning.
The result: a harmonious integration of all functions within the organization to enable the highest possible achievement.
WHY?
Organizations must be dynamic and adaptive to change. What worked well at the organization’s inception, or even last year, should be reviewed annually to ensure that the business model is right for current challenges, that it is still designed to meet unexpected changes, and that it enables the organization to capitalize on unforeseen opportunities. We must know our own strength and focus on our unique abilities, while keep in mind of the competitors.

How and Who?
Everyone is involved in the holistic strategic review and planning process. The process begins with individual interviews of key persons, including leaders in the organization, employee team members, customers, suppliers, and community and industry leaders. The interview process reveals perceptions of successes and failures, as well as possible new directions that might not currently be on management’s radar.
Next, a comprehensive organizational profile is created by the team. Critical processes and policies are identified, and the environment in which the organization operates is analyzed to identify unforeseen opportunities and possible negative developments for which the organization must prepare. The organizational profile defines the unique position the organization holds in the community and the industry in which it operates. It also provides a basis for resource development and product or service enhancement.
An annual retreat is facilitated by the facilitator and participants are tasked with reviewing past performance and current conditions. Together, retreat participants craft or revisit a vision for the organization’s future, both long and short term. The resulting conclusions are summarized into an action plan for the year to come, with measurable benchmarks to evaluate success.
Once each quarter, a work day is organized to review results of the action plan, and adjustments are made to the plan accordingly. Quarterly work days are also days to celebrate significant achievements and recognize outstanding contributions by individuals and teams within the organization. The work days are planned and executed with the assistance of the holistic auditor.
Monthly webinars are opportunities for human resource development and training in critical decision-making skills. The webinars are organization-specific, designed to cover topics agreed upon in the annual retreat and revised based on the results of quarterly work days. The holistic facilitator assists the organization through the identification of appropriate training resources, including leading experts in various fields to make presentations that challenge and inspire.
Individual leadership development activities and continuing education supplement the group activities on an ongoing basis. Organization leaders learn the importance of the integrity and authenticity that lead to trust, the responsibility for individual decisions and actions that ensure positive impact on others, and the importance of leading for the organization and not just the individual. The holistic auditor takes responsibility for crafting personalized leadership development plans and evaluating the individual’s progress.
WHEN AND WHERE?
The strategic planning process can be performed at any time, and group activities can be held at the organization’s location, or offsite if preferred. The process includes observation by the reviewer of the day-to-day operations of the company, as well as observation of regularly scheduled meetings and presentations to customers that occur during the normal course of business. The holistic reviewer brings a wealth of experience and knowledge about organizational development to the process, and this enables him to tailor the planning to the specific needs and circumstances the organization is facing at that moment in time. No one holistic review is ever the same from year to year, or across different organizations.
THE RESULT
Transformation! The harmonious integration of all functions within the organization brings increased successes and personal enrichment to all involved. That which the organization does best is celebrated, preserved and perpetuated. Unnecessary or inefficient communication and production is replaced with vision-specific effort and achievement. The holistic strategic organizational review and planning creates measurable, remarkable value.
